The event was in aid of cancer support, there was a great turn out of over 50 tractors some old and some new. To see the start of the run log on to,www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0VA56GZMEs. See how many of the participants you can identify, there are some familiar faces and tractors.

New grounds Development

A public meeting as held in the hall on Sunday 25th Nov. to unveil the proposals for grounds. A large crowd attended and after a short presentation the discussion was opened to the floor. Many queries were asked but in general the mood was relatively positive towards the venture. The proposals contain a number of elements such as two new pitches, dressing rooms and function rooms, playground and sports hall. It is hoped to submit a planning application before Christmas and all going well work to begin in 2008. Stage 1 of the development will be
to develop the playing pitches. Drafts of the developments can be seen at the bottom of this page.

Well done to all the development committee in producing these proposals a lot of work has gone into them. Here's hoping in the not too distant future we will have a facility to be proud of.

Well done to all the committee who organised the €1000 draw it was a great night, a good crowd and a few lucky winners. Many thanks to Liam O'Neill Chairman of the Leinster council for attending the draw and for the Barrowhouse history lesson. It's good to know that the community is held in such a high regard around the country.

Many thanks also to Maxwell Motors who provide the 1st and 2nd prizes, here's hoping the winners have many miles of trouble free motoring.

The winners on the night were;

1st: Birdie Brennan - Vw Polo
2nd: Mark Foran - Vw Polo
3rd: Ray & Patricia Hicks- €1000 holiday voucher
A monumental event took place in the annals of Barrowhouse GAA club last weekend and not a ball was kicked. Our pitch development fund draw took place with three lucky winners. The first two prizes were two cars and the third prize was a holiday voucher. Liam O'Neill Leinster council chairman picked the winning balls from the drum. He is pictured here with the first winning ball which belonged to Bridget "Birdie" Brennan. The second car was won by a ticket bought in Dublin while the third prize went to Ray and Patricia Hicks. We wish all the winners the best of luck with their winnings and thanks to everybody who supported the draw from the beginning.

Former Laois and Barrowhouse player voted in top ten all time junior players.

In a recent article in the Laois Nationalist (2/3/2007) the late Mick Phelan was voted in the top ten players of all time to play with a junior club in Laois. Mick played with Laois for a number of years in the late forties and fifties. He made his senior debut for Laois at 18 and played in the Leinster final of '59 scoring two goals as laois went down to Dublin. Other names that were on the list were John Conway (Arles), Fintan Walsh (Ballylinan), Teddy Delaney (Stradbally) and from more recent times Derek O'Connell (Kilcavan).

On the night the winners medals for the Div 4 league were presented by club President John Howe. Unfortunately for the Howe family there was nobody from the family on the winning team. A first for over 30 years, I think.( you can correct me if I'm wrong)
